High Precision Moldmakers

The mould industry is in evolving in many ways. This is true in terms of production, which has been increasing in parallel to the needs of the various markets, as well as in the use of new, more sustainable and environmentally friendly materials, and the way in which they are reused and recycled. Given the constant technological evolution of the industry, it is now time to focus our attention on the environment, which, in time, is becoming more and more vulnerable.

As a core contributing industry to so many commercial sectors, the need to stimulate productivity by using more sustainable, profitable materials, thus taking advantage of new technologies to improve the process, has been considered essential.

New solutions are currently being developed that allow for materials to be worked back into the production and consumption chain – a process carried out by interdisciplinary teams that span the chemical and material transformation industries.

Although recycled materials have been used in injection processes for some time now, their application is limited to non-technical products for which the recyclability of the plastic does not pose a risk to the integrity of the products or user safety.

The recyclability of raw materials poses a significant challenge, especially due to the materials used in the automotive and other industries. Parts produced for these industries are often made of plastic, which cannot fail to meet specific requirements in terms of their strength and mechanical properties.

Rectimold monitors developments in this area and is always interested in opportunities to collaborate with its customers to investigate how recycled materials may be applied to technical parts and those requiring dimensional rigour, as per the company’s sustainability objectives.
